Graellsia isabellae
Wildlife Collection
Graellsia isabellae was painted while I was pregnant with my daughter, Isabella. At the time, I was drawn to the image of a rare and delicate winged creature—something beautiful, unique, and quietly powerful.
Often mistaken for a butterfly, Graellsia isabellae is actually a moth—known as the Spanish Moon Moth—one of the rarest and most striking moths in the world. It lives in remote mountain regions and is seldom seen, admired not for bold display, but for its soft presence and extraordinary beauty.
That felt fitting.
This piece isn’t about fragility, but about rarity. About the kind of beauty that doesn’t demand attention, yet leaves a lasting impression. Painted during a season of anticipation and becoming, it reflects the wonder of creating life and the quiet awe of imagining who someone will grow into.
Graellsia isabellae is a tribute to my daughter—painted before I ever knew her, yet already knowing she would be something rare, beautiful, and entirely her own.
